The insight that current LLM lacks grounding in visual world is new to me. I had the feeling that LLM is just doing the statistical learning and fitting to a distribution, and now the talk inspires me what the missing ingredient is! Also the generalizability of FiLM despite/thanks to the weak prior is amazing!

Thank you Lucy for your excellent presentation. I really do believe this is an important topic to research. I have been a 'troll' on the internet ever since it was possible to do so. I used to find it funny as one may with prank calls or the like. I still think it is quite humorous actually. However, I don't partake as often as I once did. I've spent most of my free time, sometimes the entirety of my weekends and evenings off over the last several years, Trying to explain to others online the complexity of what is actually happening here. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that this is extremely important work and encourage you to continue looking into this matter. Thanks again.

This crankery has been thoroughly debunked in the paper COMMENTS ON "SUB-kBT MICRO-ELECTROMECHANICAL IRREVERSIBLE LOGIC GATE" by LASZLO B. KISH. Yes. We will need reversible computing. Yes. Landauer's principle is correct. Yes. The second law of thermodynamics still holds. Perpetual motions machines are still impossible. Unital channels still increase the Von Neumann entropy of quantum states. The same holds for doubly stochastic matrices. You still cannot get unlimited free energy simply by plugging an extension cord into itself. If you don't believe me, you can do the experiment by yourself. Unfortunately, the field of reversible computing has not received much attention, but it has instead been filled with unnecessary senseless controversy. Reversible computation is the future.

A great lecture, challenging to catch it all. Would like to see some sort of top-level, very simplified pseudocode for both the trainer/back-propagator and the runtime function. Then I'd understand enough to implement it. It takes a lot more work to teach others how to program ML than it does to simply share code.

The fatal flaw with depending on algorithms and outsourced click farms for moderation is a total lack of understanding of human nature in the totality of the system, from execs, algorithms, engineers, HR, shareholder/board/special interests, human nature is ignored or exploited unnaturally. There is an extreme lack of diversity at big tech and this leads to a total meltdown of planning capabilities. This equates to a breakdown of global society. Systems designed to be incompetent like FB, Twitter, Google, Reddit, congress, etc. will ultimately destroy the host. To manage an effective team a leader is required to prevent humans and machines from making executive decisions if they can't adequately generate and utilize many of what this cheap model is utilized to eradicate. There are no undo's in the real world.
